What is Breast Lift Surgery?

Breast Lift Surgery, also known as mastopexy, is a transformative procedure designed to elevate and reshape sagging breasts. This surgery is ideal for individuals experiencing ptosis (drooping) due to factors such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, aging, or weight fluctuations. Dr. Elahi employs advanced techniques to restore your breasts to a more youthful and perky position, enhancing both comfort and confidence. This procedure can be paired with a Bilateral Breast Augmentation to further augment the breasts.

What are the Benefits of a Mastopexy (Breast Lift)?

Corrects Sagging:

Raises and firms the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening surrounding tissue, which can reverse the effects of gravity, aging, and weight fluctuations.

Improved Breast Shape:

Enhances the contour and shape of the breasts, making them appear more youthful.

Repositions the Nipple and Areola:

Can elevate and centralize the nipple-areola complex to a more aesthetically pleasing position.

Reduces Stretch Marks:

By removing some of the stretched, sagging skin, it can reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

Natural Appearance:

Maintains the natural look of the breasts without the need for implants.

Who are the Best Candidates for Mastopexy?

Sagging Breasts:

Women experiencing significant breast sagging due to aging, gravity, weight loss, or post-pregnancy changes.

Good Skin Elasticity:

Adequate skin elasticity to reshape the breast tissue effectively.

Nipple Position:

Those with nipples that point downward or fall below the breast crease when unsupported.

Post-Pregnancy / Breastfeeding Changes:

Women looking to restore the shape and firmness of their breasts after pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Overall Good Health:

Being in good health, without conditions that impair healing.

Non-Smokers:

Non-smokers or those willing to quit smoking before and after surgery to promote healing.

Realistic Expectations:

Understanding the limitations and potential outcomes of the surgery and having a positive outlook.

Risks and Side Effects

As with any surgical procedure, Breast Lift Surgery carries inherent risks. Common side effects may include temporary bruising, swelling, and discomfort. More serious risks, albeit rare, include infection, changes in nipple or breast sensation, and scarring. Our dedicated team of medical professionals will thoroughly discuss these potential risks with you during your consultation to ensure you are well-informed before making any decisions.

Duration of Results

The results of Breast Lift Surgery are long-lasting, offering you a rejuvenated breast profile for years to come. While individual experiences may vary, maintaining a stable weight and adopting a healthy lifestyle can contribute to the longevity of your results.  If you have implants, they may require removal or replacement every 10 years or as needed.

Recovery After Breast Lift

Understanding the recovery process is crucial for a smooth post-surgical experience. Immediately after the procedure, patients may experience some discomfort, swelling, and bruising. Our team will provide detailed post-operative care instructions, including the use of supportive garments, to aid in the healing process. Patients are advised to take it easy for the first few days, gradually returning to normal activities as guided by our medical team.

Initial Days Post-Surgery:

Patients can expect some pain, swelling, and bruising, which can be managed with prescribed pain medications. Rest and limited activity are crucial during this initial period. Most patients will need to take at least one week off work.

First Week:

Swelling and discomfort should begin to decrease. Patients can usually resume light activities but should avoid heavy lifting, strenuous exercise, and any movements that strain the chest area.

Weeks 2-4:

Swelling continues to subside, and patients often feel more comfortable. Light exercise can be resumed, but high-impact activities and lifting should still be avoided.

Weeks 4-6:

Patients can usually return to more strenuous activities and exercise routines. The breasts will continue to settle into their final position, and any residual swelling should be mostly resolved.

Weeks 6-12:

Full recovery is typically achieved. The final results become more apparent as the breasts settle and any remaining swelling completely resolves. Scars will start to fade and improve over time.

Following our clinic's detailed post-operative care instructions and attending all follow-up appointments are crucial for a smooth recovery and optimal results. Each patient's recovery experience may vary, so it's important to communicate any concerns to our team throughout the healing process.
