Double Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Elahi is a Double Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in the Greater Toronto Area. Dr. Elahi is one of only three surgeons in Canada qualified in the two different specialties of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons.

Extensive training

He is one of the best trained Plastic Surgeons in Toronto, having had extensive plastic surgery training in Montreal at McGill University (Canada), UCLA in Los Angeles (USA), Providence Hospital in Michigan (USA), and Temple University in Philadelphia (USA).
Dr. Elahi has complemented this diverse training with supplemental plastic surgery experiences in Italy, France, and Turkey. During his many years of plastic surgery training, Dr Elahi had the unique opportunity to work with some of the most prominent plastic surgeons in the world including the forefather of Plastic Surgery, Dr Ian T Jackson.  Over the years, Dr. Elahi has had the chance to hone his skills and develop an artistic eye for natural results in aesthetic plastic surgery.

Born and raised in Etobicoke, Dr. Elahi pursued undergraduate medical studies at McMaster University and after only 2 years of studies was accepted into an advanced placement program for Medical School at the University of Western Ontario. He graduated from Medical School with Honours in 1993 as the Hewlett Packard Top Medical Graduate and was awarded the Golden Stethoscope.

Dr. Elahi then went on to pursue surgical training at McGill University in Montreal from 1993 to 1998. He worked at the prestigious Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal General Hospital, the Jewish General Hospital and the Montreal Children’s Hospital. During his time at McGill University, Dr. Elahi also completed a Thesis on the Assessment of Craniomaxillofacial Bone Thickness, earning him a Master of Science Degree from the Faculty of Graduate Studies and the Division of Plastic Surgery, in 1997. In 1998, Dr. Elahi qualified for the Royal College of Surgeons in Canada in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

Dr. Elahi subsequently pursued further advanced training in Plastic Surgery at UCLA in Los Angeles from 1998 to 2000, Providence Hospital in Michigan from 2001 to 2002 and Temple University in Philadelphia from 2002 to 2004 culminating in his second Fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery in May 2004.

Dr. Elahi decided to return to Toronto to commence his plastic surgery practice despite receiving many offers to remain in the United States of America. Dr. Elahi accepted a Staff Plastic Surgery position at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, which is a teaching hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, in addition to holding Active Staff Appointments at the Scarborough Hospital, and Rouge Valley Hospital. Dr. Elahi maintains a teaching position as a Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Plastic Surgery at Temple University in Philadelphia. Also, he was invited to join the faculty at the prestigious Cosmetic Surgery Hospital in Woodbridge, Ontario by Dr. Lloyd Carlsen and has been an active staff member since December 2005 until the doors were closed in 2013.

Dr. Elahi has general interests in Aesthetic Surgery of the face, body and breasts, as well as in reconstructive surgery. He has a clinical practice in Plastic Surgery at the Shops at Don Mills, but also takes the time to perform volunteer work in developing countries, such as traveling to Pakistan to provide state of the art plastic surgical care to survivors of the devastating earthquake.

Dr. Elahi has presented at numerous national and international meetings, as well as being published extensively on a wide variety of techniques in the plastic surgery literature. He has published over thirty plastic surgery publications, reviewed several plastic surgery textbooks, been a literary reviewer for the European Journal of Plastic Surgery, and has won numerous grants and awards for research and work in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.
